Applications are invited for a replacement Consultant Post in Immunology (adults) at the Clinical Immunology and Allergy Department at Nottingham University NHS Trusts, to join a well-established and friendly team. The post is 10 PAs although applications will also be considered on Less Than Full Time basis. The post will become available early 2021.
Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) provides a comprehensive laboratory diagnostic and advisory service with strong links with other specialties within the Trust and also provides research support for the Trust and University departments. Laboratory Services are based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus. The immunology laboratory provides services to NUH, University Hospital Leicester, Kings Mill Hospital and Derby Hospitals and also provides Consultant input (non-sessional) to Kings Mill Hospital (UKAS accredited). It has an extensive repertoire of tests, with a large autoimmune section to support the superregional vasculitis clinical service.
The Clinical Immunology and Allergy department sees over 1400 new patients a year (156 Immunology, 1282 Allergy), 1593 follow-ups (464 Immunology, 1282 Allergy including immunotherapy and Omalizumab) and in addition 957 day cases (860 Immunology, 197 Allergy). The department does not manage any in-patients and patients that require admission will be admitted under an appropriate speciality with input from Clinical Immunology and Allergy as required.
The role of this post is to support the laboratory service, to provide high quality laboratory liaison and interpretation/reporting of specialist tests and provide quality support and leadership. The post will provide Clinical Immunology and Allergy clinics in conjunction with Clinical Immunology and Allergy colleagues and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The appointee will be required to participate in weekly multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to TRIAC (Trent Regional Immunology and Allergy Consortium) network. The position will be based at Queens Medical Centre Campus. NUH has specific links with respiratory, genetics and ENT departments to support referrals as required and the department also works alongside a dietician with specialist interest in allergy.
The centre provides higher specialist training in Immunology. The department has QPIDS (Quality in Primary Immunodeficiency Services) and IQAS (Improving Quality Allergy Services) accreditation.
