Locum Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine

Applications are invited for the post of Fixed Term Consultant Respiratory and General Physician in Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board, North Wales.

This locum consultant position will be based in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. North Wales is a spectacular place to live and offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, attractions and excellent restaurants. We are surrounded by stunning scenery to explore from the rolling hills and rugged mountains of Snowdonia National Park to the long sandy beaches of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. The successful candidate will join a friendly and enthusiastic team of three full time substantive consultants, one part time locum consultant, six specialist respiratory nurses, respiratory and sleep physiologists, respiratory physiotherapists and a 30 bedded ward staffed by dedicated Nurses. They would contribute to the general workload of the department which may include lung cancer and pleural work, sleep and ventilation work, airways disease and interstitial lung disease depending on the needs of the department and the credentials of the candidate. Ysbyty Gwynedd is a modern 468 bedded district general hospital providing a comprehensive service to the population of Gwynedd, Anglesey and parts of Conwy.

Strong links exist with the other acute hospitals in the Health Board and with tertiary centres in the North West of England. The department participates in multidisciplinary team meetings with these other sites. Strong links are also in existence with the University of Wales, Bangor giving candidates an opportunity to explore their research or teaching interests.

The post is offered as ten programmed activities per week including a contribution to the general medical on-call rota. Opportunities to work flexibly or take on additional sessions may be negotiated.
