Applications are invited for a post as Consultant in Cross-sectional (MRI & CT) Cardiovascular Imaging, based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This post is a substantive appointment and is suitable for a person with senior training in either Paediatric cardiology, adult cardiology with an interest in grown-up congenital heart disease, or radiology.

The post holder will need to be experienced in cardiovascular MRI of congenital and paediatric heart disease. It is desirable that the post holder is able to perform cardiovascular CT. However, should the applicant not have the requisite CT experience, then training within the job can be arranged. It is desirable that the post-holder has experience of pulmonary hypertension cardiovascular MRI and is able to perform pulmonary vascular resistance MRI studies in a hybrid MRI setting. Again, should the applicant not have the requisite pulmonary hypertension experience, then training within the job can be arranged.

The position involves full-time supervision and reporting of cardiovascular MRI, and presenting cross-sectional imaging at the joint clinical cardiovascular conferences.

The Cardiorespiratory Division of Great Ormond Street Hospital is an exciting and innovative Unit that aspires to the highest possible quality of care. The Unit provides a complete spectrum of medical and surgical services for children with congenital and acquired heart disease, as well as specialist activity in pulmonary hypertension, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation, tracheal service, thoracic surgery, chest wall reconstruction and heart and heart-lung transplantation. The Cardiovascular MRI department is one of the leading cross-sectional imaging centres for congenital and paediatric heart disease in the world.

Candidates must be eligible for registration with the GMC. MRCP/MRCPCH/FRCR (or equivalent) is essential for the post. Where equivalent qualifications or experience is being offered, it is essential that the candidate can provide written confirmation of this.
