Applications are invited for the new post of Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The appointee will work across the region into existing outreach clinics in Health Boards across South Wales. A requirement to travel across the region is therefore essential to fulfil the requirements of the job plan.

The appointee will assist with developing a network across South Wales and provide local services in conjunction with the local Paediatricians with an interest, to include outpatients and MDT’s. This will also include team teaching with the provision for teaching across the Health Board and to integrate network teaching into outreach sessions.

There are established links across other paediatric specialties in the Children’s Hospital for Wales and with the Paediatric Rheumatology team in Bristol. It is expected that there will be regular (weekly) visits to the unit in Bristol for both clinical support and case discussion.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £79,957 per annum to £103,806 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards.

Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
