STOCKPORT NHS FOUNDATION TRUST with MANCHESTER NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
We require 1 additional Consultant Cardiologists with expertise in Imaging working between Stockport NHS Foundation Trust (based at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport) and Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (based at the Wythenshawe Hospital).
The successful candidate will have accreditation in Stress Echocardiography and/or Level 2 accreditation in CT coronary Angiography.
Further expansion of stress echocardiography services (currently running ~1500 DSE/ESE per year) at Stockport NHS FT requires additional expertise to complement the two cardiologists already providing this service in combination with trained cardiac physiologists. Stockport NHS FT aims to establish CT Coronary Angiography in the near future. In the meantime our cardiologists contribute one day per week to Regional CTA service at Wythenshawe Hospital. It is envisaged that this collaboration will continue.
The Stockport Component:
The posts will provide 10 PAs (with a Consultant of the Week rota 1 in 6) including 2 PAs at Wythenshawe for CT Angiography.
The Stockport Team:
The Stockport Cardiology team has 30 beds (6 CCU) with no part in the GIM rota.
There are 9.5 WTE consultants in Cardiology supported by a team of 5 middle grade and 4 junior medical staff, a Nurse Consultant and Chest Pain Specialist Nurse. Our current consultant team has varying specialist interests including Coronary Intervention and Aortic Valvuloplasty (at Manchester Royal Infirmary), Complex Devices & Pacing, Echocardiographic & CT Coronary Imaging, Heart Failure, Hypertension and Antenatal cardiac care.
Our successful Cardiac Physiology department has a friendly, patient-focused approach combined with expectations of excellence and has been a magnet for top service leads from elsewhere. Current provision includes: PPM and loop recorder insertions and checks, TOE, ABPM, TTE. MPI is also available on site.
Cardiac Rehabilitation: Long-standing expertise exists providing an outstanding service for patients after ACS, PCI and valve implantation.

Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics:
Pacing laboratory: A dedicated pacing lab currently provides 4.5 pacing sessions per week.
Heart Failure Services: Comprising a dedicated heart failure team of heart failure consultants, specialist heart failure nurses, HCA and GPSi, providing primarily community based specialist Heart Failure clinics but also in-patient heart failure in-reach review and assessment.
Daily Cardiology In-reach includes in-patient assessment on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and the Ambulatory Care Unit to facilitate early discharge or transfer to the cardiology.
Hypertension: we offer a Tertiary Level service as a BIHS accredited Hypertension Centre and have an active research programme.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £43.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
The successful applicant will be issued with a contract which reflects the potential requirement for out of hours or weekend working. Any requirement to work out of hours is detailed in the job advert / job description for this post and will be discussed fully with the successful applicant on appointment. This is a deviation from the national standard consultant contract.
